Triskelion Meeting Notes - August 13, 2009

Triskelion Toastmasters is getting a nice rhythm back in these dog days of summer. For the second week we had a full roster and two speakers.

Toastmaster Don Lyman picked on Texas by relating some of the strange laws they have. Laura Drury was our word master and brought us "desultory".

Our first speech was by Krystyna who informed us about “Casmir Pulaski a hero of American Revolution”. Pulaski even saved George Washington's life! This was Speech 3 for Krystyna: Get to the Point — Clearly state your speech goal, and make sure that every element of your speech focuses on that goal.

Our second speech was Jason's "Two-phase Flow in Piping: Part 2". This was Speech 8 for Jason: Get Comfortable With Visual Aids — Examines the use of slides, transparencies, flip charts, whiteboards, or props. He is honing his presentation for a big engineering conference coming up next Thursday.

Gary Fuller returned from out of town and served as our General Evaluator. Dan Pratt continued his evaluation of Jason from last week. Laura evaluated Krystyna's speech and got credit for it in her leadership book.

Connie was our topic master for the second week in a row and we drew from her tin of thought-provoking question cards. Gary won table topics with a story of teaching friends how to play pinochle. Krystyna took best speaker and Laura best evaluator.

Next week we have a District officer as our guest so please help us fill all roles! Let's put on a great meeting.

Best,
Don Lyman
