How I Plan to Spend My Summer Vacation
Well, we gallivanted (roamed about for pleasure without any definite plan) as it turns out and took twists and turns in our vocal voyage.
Connie Pshigoda gave an award for outstanding physical fitness and devotion to helping others achieve their goals. I had no idea I was such a great a person, but Connie was so convincing, I had to accept. (Loved the trophy.)
Julie Williams convinced us to outsource our resources (I’m hiring her to write all of my speeches from now on). She used a phrase rarely heard nowadays: “on time and under budget.”
Don Lyman evaluated Connie’s speech and Ed Johnson evaluated Julie’s speech.
Then Ed, with such a strong desire to educate our members as to what a hot potato speech, gave us a heated tubular discussion and technical analysis of the elevated kinetics of the lowly tater. He was HOT, and I don’t mean necessarily physically attractive to me, but I think everyone enjoyed his spud-of-the-moment presentation.
Julie Williams (also double-dipping into the role pool) presented table topics. One of our guests (Laura) tied with Dave Trzupek for best answer. Their topics were based on coinage that Julie forgot to leave with the Treasurer.
Kudos go to Gary Fuller for his very comprehensive grammar report, and also to Julie for best speech and Ed Johnson for his evaluation.

Meeting Prep - 02 June 2009
Greetings, fellow toastmasters and friends,
The theme for the Thursday Toastmasters meeting is “How I Plan to Spend My Summer Vacation” and the challenge will be not to use the word “Staycation.”
For some of us, this will be the only type of vacation we’ll get, but for most of you, we’d like to meddle in your lives as much as possible, so inquiring minds just want to know!
If I can’t have a vacation, then darn it, I want to hear about someone else’s dreams.
In September, we could have another meeting to see how your plans worked or didn’t work out as you had hoped. We can also revel in your misery. It’s all good!
The only plans I have for the meeting so far are:
TM – me
Speaker #1 – Julie Williams – Speech #3 (Get to the Point) which may be a powerful point presentation.
Evaluator – Don Lyman (thanks for volunteering)
So there’s still lots of opportunity to step up and join the jamboree – M – I – C (uh – I guess that’s another song and probably copyrighted).
That was an “uh” not an “ah” if you’re counting. Anyway, love to hear from you all.

Toastmasters Meeting Notes - 5/21/2009
Today's meeting was another fine gathering and a great way to spend the lunch hour.
Don served as Toastmaster and chose a "My Fair Lady" theme for the meeting. We will honor our fallen heroes coming up on Monday, but did you know that May 20th is Eliza Doolittle Day?
Connie presented her 2nd speech from the Advanced Communication Series--Special Occasion Speeches. Today's project was Speaking in Praise. She honored Ralph C. Smedley... founder of Toastmasters. Her speech gave all of us new insights into Ralph's history and was a great introduction for our guests Al and Steve. Gary served as General Evaluator and Dan evaluated Connie's speech.
Carolyn was our Table Topics Master. She chose a theme of "life questions". She hit us with questions such as: What song describes your life? Tell about a recent time when you helped a stranger. Tell us about an event that changed your life. If you could invent one thing to help the world what would it be? Tell us about a movie that made you cry. What makes you feel close to nature.
Connie and Gary tied for best Table Topic. Connie would invent a potion that would soothe the butterflies that we ToastMasters get. Gary related to us how his marriage was a life changing event. Dan chose Tom Petty's "Into the Great Wide Open" as his theme song since he is “a rebel without a clue.”
Linda provide a fun word of the day: toady.
Next week we have officer speeches and elections. Our esteemed President, Mike, will preside over the meeting. Please make it a priority to attend.

Alfred P. Doolittle: Nah. Nah, can't afford 'em guv'nor. Neither could you, if you was as poor as me.

Meeting Notes - 14 May 2009
Hello Toastmasters and guests:
Today's meeting may have appeared to be unorganized, but with great aplomb club members stepped up and presented an A+ meeting with six members and three guests attending.
Connie Pshigoda served as Toastmaster, introducing guests Martin Cobb, Area Governor; John Graham and Maureen ( ) from Kiewit and speakers Krystyna Noworytta and Dan Pratt.
Krystyna's Ice Breaker Speech gave the audience insight to the remarkable achievements she has made in her life---including learning the U.S. tax structure once she became a citizen.
Dan's speech, #5 from the Competent Communicator Manual, titled "The Planet Play" was an amusing account of a day in the life of anthropomorphized celestial bodies. Dan played the part of all of these bodies.
Gary Fuller and guest, Martin Cobb served as evaluators,sharing valuable suggestions for growth and improvement. Dan Pratt took Best Speaker Award and Martin Cobb Best Evaluator.
Connie closed the meeting with her Advanced Manual speech: Mastering the Toast. She provided the bubbly for all in attendance to toast the Triskelion Club for excellence in communication, leadership and confidence.

Meeting Notes - 07 May 2009
Hello Fellow Triskelions----
If you missed today's Toastmaster's meeting you missed the opportunity to learn the difference in a Marriage License and a Learner's Permit!
The meeting was attended by 6 members and one guest--Matt Weesner from Colorado Public Radio. Don Lyman gave his 5th speech from the manual titled: "Temporary Marriage" and Don Pratt evaluated.
Julie Williams tested our cranial creativity with Table Topics. Todd Rys won with his "Soft-touch Brass Knuckles." You just had to be there. . . and we do hope we'll see you next week.

Meeting Notes - April 2 2009
Connie Pshigoda began today's meeting as the Toastmaster.
Tod Rys provided the Word of the Day: discombobulate. Due to the seasonal storms, our schedules have been discombobulated.
Speaker #1, Gary Fuller gave a Demonstration Talk from the Speak to Inform manual. He demonstrated how to make jerky. . . with samples for all! Yum, thanks Gary,
Speaker #2, Dave Trzupek gave an impromptu speech inspiring the group to review the principles from a 20-year old paradigm shift.
Krystina courageously stepped up as General Evaluator (her first attempt) and did an outstanding job!
Speech Evaluators Linda Holm and new member Neal Hoffman gave gracious and helpful suggestions.
Dan Pratt lead Table Topics following the theme of "out of sync" and Don Lyman won the vote.
